Hatred or Fresh Start?

Warren Kinsella, once part of the prime minister’s inner circle, says it better than I can: Here’s his story about how multiculturalism wasn’t supposed to mean believing in hatred. Link https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/kinsella-is-this-at-long-last-the-result-of-multiculturalism

I like how he said Canadian culture means, “Peace, order and good government” because folks can grasp it. They may not know about “western values” coming from “the enlightenment” but even “low information voters” can grasp Canada’s old slogan.

To me, Canada means a fresh start:

Yes, your grandfather stole my grandfather’s goat, and yes folks back in “the old country” still have a hot feud about it, with hatred consuming their waking hours… but we here have a fresh start. Here I can play tennis doubles with a man your grandfather despises. I can uphold a law about equal rights for a category your grandfather despises. Such as women.

A new world means new values, such as not bowing down to any man.

As a boy, I thrilled to read The Devil and Danial Webster, a children’s classic where the devil makes a deal to take a man’s soul. But Webster, an historical figure, takes the devil to trial. Webster argues that the evils of the old world, such as buying souls, have no place here.

History note: The American colonies were big on religion, such as killing witches and making a woman wear a Scarlet Letter. So why then did colonial Americans, upon independence, insist on separation of church and state? Then a simple thing like wearing your hat tilted can get a person murdered in a police van. (Persia)

It is no coincidence that a certain theocracy, the “most Muslim” state in the world, (Iraq) also has the hight rate among the young of atheism. I appreciate their idealistic skepticism.

A wise man said, “It is not by our faith that authorities will obey God that we are saved, but by the lack of it.

I like truth and beauty. Hence I read newspapers and buy art. I dislike social media, finding it false and ugly...
