If Americans can meet their eyes in the mirror, it’s only by being in denial of the past.
Here’s a quote from midway through President Biden’s term, when the casualties were starting in Ukraine. We didn’t know about the Russian army’s atrocities yet.
QUOTE
10. Will Donald Trump win the 2024 US election? Maybe not. His fanboy adulation of Putin goes down well with the hardcore MAGA crowd, who admire the Russian dictator more than they do Joe Biden, but praising Putin’s “smart move” in invading Ukraine will not play well with most Americans if their country is caught up in a confrontation with Russia.
Has the world ‘changed forever’, as the pundits love to say? No, of course not, but this is a very big deal, and a hell of a lot has changed.

UNQUOTE
I daresay that America’s richest man, who was caught on camera doing a spontaneous “Hitler salute,” also prioritizes dictatorships over democracies such as Ukraine. When both congress and the White House were baffled, it was the Wall Street Journal who exposed Elron Musk as being the individual who turned off the satellite defences just when Russias was doing their heaviest attack so far of civilians by air. Yes, one individual felt entitled to thwart and reverse his country’s foreign policy.
I guess Russian atrocities by their ground troops have, like “unbelievable” actions by President Trump, been normalized and forgotten… even by U.S. university graduates toiling in the media. That’s one way to face your mirror.
Trivia: The Chinese banned a movie favouring communism because it documented the Russians murdering a huge number of Polish community leaders and professionals who were in the Polish army reserve as officers, in the atrocity of the Katyn Wood Massacre…. Even fellow communists in China can’t stomach Russian values.

Blog note: I feel sorry for the Chinese people. The wired world is flat, folks from everywhere would land on my site, see the six essays on my home page, look around, maybe clicking the pages at the bottom, to get a taste. Very normal.
For years, only the Chinese, reaching me beyond their “Great Fire Wall” would only land once and leave. No human curiosity. This happened too often to be mere happenstance. My God! What has communism done to their brains?…
Well, just now I am trying to tell myself that, down the years, they have been bot machines, not real Chinese.
