Yesterday, the CBC reported “a shocking announcement.”
QUOTE
“U.S. President Donald Trump said he has struck a deal to obtain diesel from Russia, a stunning reversal after years of U.S. pressure on Moscow over its war with Ukraine and an attempt to address high fuel prices ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.”
… “Enough is enough,” the senators wrote. “The President must end his war with Iran instead of funding Russia’s war machine.”
… Ukrainian President Zelensky, “in an online post reacting to the deal, said Russia would repay it “with further terror and perfidy.” He cast it as an investment in the war, allowing it to be prolonged.
“It plays into Russia’s hands— allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world,” he said.”

Meanwhile, observers remain divided over whether Trump is secretly a Russian asset.
… …
That news was yesterday.
During the last week, the Russians sunk a grain freighter, and there were two pictures for days on the BBC news home page:
1) French president Macron was warning the EU about Russia secretly using hybrid warfare against the EU.
2) Russian president Putin warning the EU not to mess with Kaliningrad.
I wrote an informal letter to my member of parliament
Greetings,
Venting my spleen on what you already know:
I see where Russia sunk a ship full of corn that could have fed innocent children. And guilty adults. Too bad the EU couldn’t starve the Russian war machine by buying Canadian oil instead of Russia’s, if only we had the pipeline to tidewater capacity.
New (to me) creative idea:
Meanwhile, when you guys are talking with important folk in parliament and foreign embassies, you could hint that, to reduce Russia’s secret hybrid warfare,
(About as secret as the masked mystery green men that suddenly appeared in Crimea in 2014)
maybe we should take over the big area of Kaliningrad. For self-defence. Call it “for national security.”
Then use it for war reparations, meaning: not give it back. I would be happy to gift it to Poland or a Baltic state.
Obviously I am not the only one to have this idea,
because in the week when Macron of France was complaining to the EU about the hybrid warfare, Putin was sabre rattling to warn NATO not to touch Kaliningrad.
He wouldn’t worry if it wasn’t a fine idea for us to take it. For the Russian’s own good, so they won’t have to pay as much reparations when their “special military operation” is over.
Can you imagine? Russians get 15 years in prison if they call it a “war.”
….
A joke Russians tell: A man was yelling, “The president is an idiot!” He was soon surrounded by cops beating on him. He cries, “Hey, I’m talking about the president of Ukraine!”
“Don’t give us that, we all know who the idiot is.”
Trivia: At the farmer’s market in Edmonton this summer I bought a homemade ceramic lapel pin of the Ukraine flag, with real gold for the flag pole ball. I am wearing it every day.

Footnotes OR a subessay
~If Trump is an asset of the Russian Federation, then the truth could be in the Epstein files. (Which are still unreleased, in defiance of congressional law)
According to rumour, Epstein’s secret camera system in his sex mansion was set up by Russian agents, who have a flair for such things.
Crazy? Yes, that sounds almost as unbelievable as Trump abruptly turning traitor to America by supporting Russia over Ukraine. The amount of diesel oil Russia will suddenly have permission to sell is not enough to change world prices, but is more than enough for Russia to have a big boost to its war machine.
…
~As for secret assets, discerning them is a subplot of Ark, a sci fi series about people leaving earth during hostilities with the Eastern Federation.
One of my favourite episodes is The Other You (season 2 episode 4), because of a married man who meets his deceased wife, alive from an alternate reality where he is good: “True, but the ‘you’ in ‘my’ world would never have said that.”
I think we all would like to be better people. How awful it would be to face how one didn’t take a brighter path to becoming “good” and very likeable.
Almost as awful as our own “alternate reality” where persons in congress won’t uphold the Constitution. When the madness passes, next month or in two years, they will have to look at themselves.
